METRO DX CLUB MEETING MINUTES – June 16, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 7:32 PM by President Bob Adamitis, K9MDO. The minutes of the last meeting and the Treasurer’s report were read by Jack, W9NJB, Secretary/Treasurer and approved by the membership.

John, W9ILY, Vice President, gave a report he received on the Peter I DXpedition regarding QSLing. Coming contests are the IARU on July 7-8-9 and of course Field Day on June 24^th and 25^th.

Field Day chairman Bob Jacobson, K9CJ, started the discussion by stating that we would be competing in class 2A instead of 1A. He went over the various pieces of equipment that were needed and the people responsible for providing them. We do need gasoline containers. K9MDO announced that club member Tom Palmisano, W9AEB, had donated a 4KW generator to the club. Tom received a round of applause for his generosity and the thanks from all present.

K9MDO asked the members to decide by the next meeting if they want Club T-shirts. Bob can get them from the same person in Florida who gives us such a good deal on club caps. If club members decide we should get them Bob will order and get them on his next trip to visit Roger.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 and turned over to member Mike McGirr, K9AJ, for the program presentation. He presented two shows that the Metro group have never seen: the November 2005 NA-228 trip to Miskitos Cays in Nicaragua, and the February 2006 NA-178 trip to the Farallon Islands. Both were highly interesting and entertaining. Thanks to Mike for making these trips that are both physically challenging and very expensive.
