METRO DX CLUB MEETING MINUTES – November 17, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM by President Bob Adamitis, K9MDO. The minutes of the last meeting and the Treasurer’s report were read by Jack Nienhaus, W9NJB, Secretary/Treasurer and approved by the membership.

The meeting was again held in the lobby as we did not have access to the meeting room. Pastor Walt Kline, KA9CBJ, our contact with the hospital, advises that our regular room has been taken over by the FBI who are investigating the hospital and are using the room to store hospital records they are auditing. Various in-hospital locations were discussed with hospital officials by Walt and he has been told that none are available. President K9MDO discussed other locations and for the present decided to "wait and see".

The club Web Site is up and on line and the URL is www.metrodxclub.com. John, W9ILY, is the Webmaster and will be looking for photos and biographical information of each member to post. John will advise further on this matter. He was not available this evening as he was attending his daughter’s wedding in Las Vegas.

The annual Winterfest Banquet will be on the 3rd Friday of January and the membership advised that they are agreeable to again having it at The Old Barn in Burbank. Arrangements will be made by K9MDO.

Jack, W9NJB, advised that it has been over a year since we last sent a contribution to the Northern California DX Foundation. The membership directed the Sect/Treas. to send a $50 contribution.

Bob, K9MDO, advised that the ARRL is requesting contributions to the Fund for the Defense of Amateur Radio Frequencies. The membership directed the Sec/Treas. to send a $50 contribution.

Member Dave Alm, WG9J, advised that along with member Tom Palmisano, W9AEB and three other hams, K9UK, W9WWW and KC9FJN will be operating P40Z from November 28th to December 5th.

Upcoming contests: This weekend Nov. 18-20 ARRL Sweepstakes – Phone and Nov. 25-26 CQWW DX Contest - CW.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:38 PM.

Ten members were present – WG9J, KA9CBJ, N9LAH, N9TK, K9BWQ, AI9L, AF9H, K9CJ, K9MDO and W9NJB.

Respectfully submitted by Jack Nienhaus, W9NJB, Sec/Treas.
