Metro DX Club Winterfest Minutes

January 16, 2015

The evening’s festivities were called to order at 19:04 by President Jim Mornar N9TK. This event is the annual winter dinner which was held at the Harvest Room Restaurant in Palos Heights, IL.

In attendance were a total of 23 members and guests.

Photographs of members (including silent keys) participating in club events were projected on the wall.

Club Name Badges were delivered to those in attendance who had ordered one.

The upcoming K1N DXpedition will be featured in a contest with Metro members guessing the total number of QSOs they will have in the log. All members gave their guess to Jim, N9TK.

The first round for door prizes occurred at 19:37.

Winners included Lee WA9LEY, Mike K9AJ and Mike K9LSH.

Split the pot went to Mike K9AJ

The Worked All Europe Challenge (WAE) results are in.

Level one was Jan, WG9V with 48 contacts

Level two was Jim, NV9X with 27 contacts

Level three was John W9ILY with 71 contacts

(Check out the club website for all of the scores)

The 2015 Metro Challenge is for “THE MOST IMPROVED DXer” with all time new contacts.

The second round for door prizes went to Bob N9ORD, JIM NV9X, John K9DRS, Jan WG9V and Jerry K9PY.

The evening concluded with an open discussion regarding Ham Radio.

We enjoyed the story of “Country Mouse becomes City Mouse” presented by Roxana, XYL of Mark, K9TP.

That was matched by “Mouse Caught in a Garage Door” (spoiler alert: unhappy ending) by Jim N9TK..

The evening was concluded by 21:30

Respectfully submitted:

John Raiger K9DRS
