President Bob Adamitis, K9MDO, called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM and Sect/Treas. Jack Nienhaus, W9NJB, read last month’s minutes and gave the Treasurer’s report. K9MDO called for two corrections in last months minutes. Two contests reported were actually the ARRL -SSB and the ARRL -CW International DX Contests and not CQ magazine contests. Corrections were made and both reports approved by the membership.
Walt, KA9CBJ, advised that he had received a letter from Mr. Inman of Oak Forest Hospital approving the club’s request to use the hospital grounds for our Field Day operations on the weekend of June 23/24.
H&W: Frank, K9BWQ, recently suffered a stroke and is now in re-hab at Christ Hospital; Roger, K9RB, is now home receiving IV therapy after foot surgery; Bob, K9MDO, is recovering from surgery that took place 10 days ago at the Univ. of IL Hospital.
John, W9ILY, reports growing club member participation in recent contests. ARRL-Int.CW-7 members; CQWW160 – 7 members; North American QSO Party RTTY – 6 members; ARRL Intl. SSB – 8 members.
Coming contests: May 5/6 The Indiana QSO Party will be worked portable by members W9ILY and N9LAH in Parke County, IN. using the club call W9TY. May 12/13 The annual Armed Forces Amateur/Military Cross band Communications Test. May 26/27 the CQ WW WPX Contest.
It was noted, and approved by the membership, that any member not in good standing by having failed to pay their dues by July 1, 2007 would be dropped from the membership of the organization.
Field Day 2007 – Bob, K9CJ, FD chairman started a brief discussion of this years exercise. He will attempt contact with Dennis, KA9ZZT, regarding the masts and other supplies that Dennis usually provides. Jack, W9NJB, was asked to confirm availability of the motor home. Further FD matters will be discussed at the next meeting.
The next meeting will be held on MAY 11TH due to a conflict with the Dayton Hamfest on our regular meeting night. Mark your calendars of the change.
Members present were: W9ILY, N9LAH, K9CJ, AI9L, AF9H, KA9CBJ, K9MDO and W9NJB.
Meeting adjourned at 8:25 PM and video entitled "Last Voice from Kuwait" was shown. It was very interesting and told how a Kuwaiti ham stayed in communication with the U.S. all during the Iraqi occupation, despite being practically across the street from the Iraqi headquarters.
Respectfully submitted by Jack Nienhaus, W9NJB, Sect/Treas.
