METRO DX CLUB MEETING MINUTES – September 15, 2006
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 pm. by the President, Bob Adamitis,
K9MDO. The minutes of the previous meeting, August 18, 2006 were read and
approved. The treasurer's report was not submitted due to the absence of the
Sec./Treas. Jack Nienhaus, W9NJB.
Members and guests present: K9MDO, W9ILY, K9RB, K9CJ, N9LAH, KA9CBJ, KA9ZAP,
N2WB,AK9Y,KM9M,K9PY.
President, K9MDO, reported that he had contacted the Harris Bank to have them
reconsider the notification of a maintenance fee to be charged to our Club's
checking account. An agreement was reached not to charge our account.
Out of town members were introduced by the President: Roger Borowski, K9RB
from Orange Park, FL, and William Beyer, N2WB from Ormond Beach, FL.
John Holmes, W9ILY reported on contest results: Not enough members had
entered the ARRL International
DX CW contest for 2006 for
a Club entry. He also reported that our club is registered as an
affiliated ARRL radio club. He reported that
Bob Jacobson, K9CJ had won 1st place in the 2005 CQWW 40 Meter CW category in
the 9th call area. The Metro DX Club was 4th from the bottom.
President, K9MDO, asked if there were any outstanding bills for our 2006
Field Day, if so, please contact him. He also announced that new member, Bob
Berger, N9ORD, had to receive blood transfusions, so was unable to attend
tonight's meeting. An email was received by the President from Nick Cominos,
W9UM, indicating that he was not able to attend tonight's meeting due to the
flooding in Griffith, IN.
The President, also shared that he will be undergoing surgery on Sept. 27th
at the University of Illinois Hospital.
President, K9MDO, presented a Metro-DX Club silver certificate to William
Beyer, N2WB, honoring his contact from Peter One Island DXpedition.
There was no old business.
The program for the meeting was "THE 3Y0X DX - PERIENCE", presented
by William Beyer, N2WB, using Microsoft Power Point on a computer screen.
He reported there were a total of 86,888 contacts at Peter 1 Island in
Antarctica. There were 21 radio operators on Peter 1 from 8 countries. The
presentation was professionally done in color and covered all the preparations
for the DXpedition. He stated that for further information contact the website,
www.peterone.com if you wish to obtain a DVD covering the Peter One
DXpedition.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:40 PM.
