Metro DX Club Winterfest Minutes

The evening’s festivities
were called to order at 19:04 by President Jim Mornar N9TK. This event is the
annual winter dinner which was held at the Harvest Room Restaurant in Palos
Heights, IL.
In attendance were a total
of 23 members and guests.
Photographs of members (including silent keys) participating in club events were
projected on the wall.
OLD
BUSINESS
Club Name Badges were
delivered to those in attendance who had ordered one.
NEW
BUSINESS
The upcoming K1N DXpedition
will be featured in a contest with Metro members guessing the total number of
QSOs they will have in the log. All members gave their guess to Jim, N9TK.
The first round for door
prizes occurred at 19:37.
Winners included Lee WA9LEY,
Mike K9AJ and Mike K9LSH.
Split the pot went to Mike
K9AJ
The Worked All Europe
Challenge (WAE) results are in.
Level one was
Jan, WG9V with 48 contacts
Level two was
Jim, NV9X with 27 contacts
Level three was
John W9ILY with 71 contacts

The 2015 Metro Challenge is
for “THE MOST IMPROVED DXer” with all time new contacts.
The second round for door
prizes went to Bob N9ORD, JIM NV9X, John K9DRS, Jan WG9V and Jerry K9PY.
The evening concluded with
an open discussion regarding Ham Radio.
We enjoyed the story of
“Country Mouse becomes City Mouse” presented by Roxana, XYL of Mark, K9TP.
That was matched by “Mouse
Caught in a Garage Door” (spoiler alert: unhappy ending) by Jim N9TK..
