the quarterly WEB cost ($14.85) and donations to N8A ($49.96) and FT5ZM
($50.00). Income totaled $10.00 for 2014 dues from W9NKV. For the year to date
the treasury balance has increased by $98.03, primarily due to the W9YYG estate
contributions. Approval was moved by K9PY, seconded and approved.
Contesting: W9ILY made a brief contest report. Results were from
ARRL DX SSB contest where Metro finished 11th out
of 49 in the Local Club category with 10 logs submitted; Metro also finished 7th
in the 2012 DX Marathon.

The Winterfest Dinner was discussed and Jim, N9TK, will be the
chairman. Various locations were discussed and Jim will bring costs and details
to the November meeting so we can make a decision then.
December meeting: It was decided that there would be no December
meeting due to the holiday season.
Current and past DX: C82DX is currently very active. Also active
is TN2MS. Both 10M and 12M have been very good lately with many strong signals.
An email request from a team going to Mellish Reef in 2014 was
read by W9ILY. This DXpedition is one that falls under our donation policy to
NCDXF so no action will be taken.
Upcoming Contests: K9CJ reported on the upcoming contests that
include CQWW-SSB, CQWW CW and ARRL Sweepstakes.
The election of officers for 2014 was discussed and Jim, N9TK,
offered his services as President. Thanks, Jim!! W9ILY agreed to continue as
secretary/treasurer for another year. That leaves the position of vice president
open. All positions will be voted upon in November.
Jim, NV9X, commented that hamfest attendance seems to be down
quite a bit if the Peoria Hamfest can be used as a guideline. Even the
presentation there by Riley Hollingsworth had sparse attendance. FCC enforcement
action was also discussed.
November meeting was discussed and, by unanimous decision, it was
decided that there would be a pizza party that night. EVERYONE COME AND ENJOY!
A motion to close the meeting was made by N9TK and seconded
by K9CJ. Meeting closed at 8:22.

Two short videos were shown: EU-006, The Aran Islands by
EI7NET, and one from EU-178, Kihnu, Estonia.
The W9LNQ display of some of his historic QSL cards was
available for members to view, as well as an unusual award that Bob had received
from Singapore, the Lion City Award. Thanks again, Bob!
