DX Club Meeting Minutes
October 16, 2015
The meeting was called to order by President Jim Mornar N9TK with the
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag at 19:34.
In attendance, besides Jim, were John W9ILY,
John K9DRS, Carl K9CS, Lee WA9LEY,
Matt KA9BBQ, Phil N9LAH, Gene W9PNG, Bob N9ORD,Jerry K9PY, Nick W9UM, Kurt
WB9FMC, Herb KC9OOK, Greg AB9MZ, Mike K9LSH, Jim NV9X and Scott KB9VRW..
Health
and Welfare: It was noted that Tom N9IHZ is recovering from a recent medical issue.
OLD
BUSINESS:
The MINUTES of the previous meeting
as posted were approved.
The TREASURER’S REPORT was distributed by John, W9ILY. $386.11 is
available for donations. Income of $65.96 was from the WUST Award, Gold
Certificate and sales of QSL cards from the W9LNQ estate. Expenses were $15.56
for our web domain name and postage. The entire report is available on the Metro
Yahoo Group in the Files area.
A listing of previous
donations made by the club to DX activities was presented. A motion to approve
the treasurer’s report was made by KA9BBQ and seconded by AB9MZ. Motion
passed.
WUST
awards: We added W4DSM to the honored list.
The Tinley Park EOC amateur radio antenna is still under consideration.
This will be placed on hold temporarily pending other village communications
upgrades.
A brief discussion was held
on the status of our FACEBOOK page.
Our thanks go to John Raiger for creating the Metro presence on Facebook.
The K9BWQ tower is scheduled for removal. The club has no involvement
with the effort.
SPECIAL
EVENT activation for W9TY recognizing
the Diamond Illinois Mine Disaster of
1883 will be on Saturday February 6, 2016 from the QTH of W9ILY in Morris,
IL. Operations to be SSB including 20 and 40 meters, 11:00 to 17:00 local time.

NEW
BUSINESS:
All were reminded about the
most improved DXer contest for 2015 to be awarded at the Winter Dinner. Get your
score to W9ILY by January 3rd.
Plans for the scheduled TO1E
St. Martin trip by K9NU, W9ILY, VE2BWL and
K9EL from October 20-29 were described.
DX

activities. Palmyra is an atoll in the North Pacific located south of Hawaii, 5
degrees north of the equator.

Our WINTERFEST DINNER is to be held on Jan. 15, 2016. WA9LEY is
coordinating the location.
Officer
elections will be held at the November
meeting. The current officers will continue although nominations will be
welcome.
Dues were accepted for 2016
at $15.00 per member.
Following a motion to
adjourn by N9ORD and second by KB9BBQ, the meeting was called to a CLOSE at 20:20
A short break followed by a
presentation from Scott KB9VRW our Affiliated Club Coordinator with the ARRL.
Scott explained the advantages provided to our club and answered a variety of
questions.
