On Saturday, February 6, 2016 we all gathered at the QTH of John, W9ILY, for our Special Event Station remembering the Diamond Mine Disaster of 1883. We operated for virtually all of the six hour period taking turns at operating and logging and made a total of 273 contacts, all on 40 and 20 meters SSB. There sure was lots of food and snacks for all and the pizza filled everyone up. We had over 400 hits on qrz.com by the day after the event so we'll be receiving more applications for the certificate and QSL card.  Present for our event were K9LSH, WA9LEY, N9ORD, N9LAH, N9IHZ, K9DRS, K9PY, N9VVO and W9ILY.

Thanks to Thomas, N9IHZ, for bringing his friend Tony N9VVO to our event. Tony had fun and decided to join Metro. WELCOME TONY!!

 Thanks to all and 73,

 John W9ILY
