OLD BUSINESS

The MINUTES of the previous  meeting were approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT  John W9ILY reports that the Club had income of $30.30 which was from four WUST applicants and a $5 donation.  Detailed Treasurer reports are filed on our groups.io site.

WUST  Awards were issued to OH1MB, W7UT, K4WY and K1KOB, all resulting from an article appearing in May CQ magazine.  Thanks to John W9ILY for his efforts in highlighting our Club’s WUST award and getting the article published in CQ.

KING OF THE HILL  Our revised June qualifier runs this weekend. While not a formal contest, try to work as many DXCC entities this weekend and submit your scores via ADIF file to John W9ILY who will compile the results.

KOH for July will be the IARU contest.

KOH for August will be shared. NAQP CW and NAQP SSB.

NEW BUSINESS

DX  6 meters is opening up with many notable contacts reported. Among those were John W9ILY with 5T and 6W, George K9GA working CU2, MD0 and MM0. John K9EL added to his totals by recently working a new one on 6. We thank those that have been providing DX spots regularly on the groups.io reflector.

FIELD DAY  Jim N9TK is hosting a 2E entry from his home, with 8-9 people already signed up to attend.  He will have 2 HF stations and a 6 meter setup. Jerry WB9Z is letting us use some of his filters and stubs to cut down on interference. Ops would need to be fully vaccinated with masks optional. Phone operators are asked to bring their own headsets.  Please let Jim know via email if you will attend. If you are attending, you will be sent a link to a Google calendar where you can plug in and reserve your preferred operating times and modes.  We hope for a good turnout.

BOUVET  A Bouvet donation had been tabled for now. The early 2023 DXpedition was cancelled but new information released today indicated it may still be possible.  The team is in negotiations with the new Braveheart owner to provide transport to Bouvet.

W9DXCC  Many of the program presenters are in place, prizes are coming in and there are about 100 hams who have registered so far.  See the W9DXCC website for more details.

FUTURE MEETING PROGRAMS  We are looking for ideas for upcoming meetings.  Please let us know if you have an idea or have something of interest you would like to present.

SPECIAL EVENT  The Club has sponsored several successful Special Event stations in the past using the call W9C and are discussing ideas for another one.

MEETING FIELD TRIP  We are looking into a Club field trip in lieu of an upcoming meeting. One idea would be to attend a local minor league baseball game like the Joliet Jackhammers. We will keep you posted.

The meeting was adjourned for refreshments

PROGRAM   Reminding us of Field Day’s past, two videos of Metro Field Days in 2018 and 2019 were shown.
