Metro DX Club September Meeting Minutes 9/18/20

The Metro DX Club’s September meeting was held on 9/18 via ZOOM. Thanks to John K9EL who arranged checking members in.

The meeting was called to order by Metro President Jim N9TK. Those attending besides Jim were:

TREASURER’S REPORT John W9ILY reports our Club had no income or expenses for the month.

KING OF THE HILL The final quarter qualifying contest for the Metro King of the Hill is the Washington Salmon Run QP this weekend. A member can win once per quarter. The end of year KING OF THE MOUNTAIN will be awarded to the member who has compiled the most points for the year. You can find your place in the standings on the Metro website.

CONTESTS John W9ILY reported on our club/member contest results. — K9ZO placed 1st in Illinois as SO in CQ 160 CW. N9TK’s fine score was also mentioned. — Congrats to Jerry WB9Z for his great score in the ARRL160 contest W/VE SO UNL HP. — ARRL DX Phone. Our Club team had 11 members enter and scored over 1 million points. We were #31 of 40 clubs. We were placed in the medium category due to our # of entries which had us competing with some much larger clubs.

— Lots of contest activity coming up. This weekend is the Washington Salmon Run QP, NJQP, IAQP, NHQP, SAC CW, BARTG RTTY 75 baud. — CQWW DX RTTY coming up September 26-27.

WUST No new awards to report.

ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION Each member got a chance to talk about their recent activities. Many are working on antenna and rotator issues especially preparing for the upcoming 160 meter season. Some good DX has already been reported on the top band. Members are expecting good conditions on 80 and 160 coming up soon. Some members are active in the weekly CWT sessions. W9KXT reports on VE sessions coming up for new hams and those wishing to upgrade. The swap and shop available through NIDXA was discussed.

After some additional discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
